EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Audit (WGEA) Workshop on the application of ClimateScanner

Objavljeno 12. 6. 2024. From June 3 to 7, 2024, the Supreme Audit Institution of the Czech Republic hosted the Regional EUROSAI Technical Workshop on the Application of ClimateScanner.
The workshop was attended by 57 auditors from 25 EUROSAI member SAIs, including the State Audit Office of Croatia, the European Court of Auditors, the INTOSAI Working Group for Environmental Auditing (WGEA) and the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil.
ClimateScanner is a global initiative launched and led by the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil in collaboration with the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), with the aim of assessing government activities related to climate change. SAIs have a unique role in solving the climate crisis and a common mission in providing independent assessments of the use of public resources and the effectiveness of public policies. By doing so, they can provide reliable information and contribute to the transparency of government activities and the improvement of climate change policies. The aforementioned initiative will produce relevant information for planning the future audit work of SAIs in relation to climate change, contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience between them, and strengthen the role of INTOSAI.
The goal of the initiative is to conduct assessments at the national level according to a standardized methodology, to consolidate data at a global level and to communicate relevant information to stakeholders. Likewise, the goal is to develop and expand an innovative, rapid review method (Coordinated Rapid Review) and a tool for assessing government activities in dealing with climate change.
The aim of the workshop was to train auditors to use the ClimateScanner methodology and the corresponding web application. The workshop is organized over 5 days. In addition to the introduction to ClimateScanner and the web application, it also included a more detailed elaboration by areas (axes) and exercises on real and test data, so that auditors could apply the ClimateScanner methodology and carry out an assessment in their countries.
