EU CONTACT COMMITTEE MEETING (Luxembourg, 3-4 May 2022)
On 3 and 4 May 2022, representatives of the State Audit Office participated in the annual meeting of the Contact Committee of the European Union, held in Luxembourg.
On the first day, a meeting and discussion of the heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the EU member states and the European Court of Auditors was held.
On the second day of the meeting, the evaluation of the (added) value of the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF) at the national and EU level as a strategic task and challenge for the Supreme Audit Institutions was discussed. An introductory speech on the current status, progress made and forthcoming challenges related to the implementation of the RRF and national recovery and resilience plans from an EU perspective, was given by Ms. Celine Gauer, Director-General of the European Commission's Recovery and Resilience Task Force (RECOVER). This was followed by a discussion of the participants with Ms. Gauer, and presentations on the performed, ongoing and planned audits of the RRF and national recovery and resilience plans. The presentations continued with a discussion between the presenters and participants on the issue of assessing the value and impact of the RRF and national recovery and resilience plans, good practice, audit areas of common strategic interest and potential audit gaps.
Following the summary and conclusions, Mr Jose Tavares, President of the Court of Auditors of Portugal, as a host of the next meeting, took over the presidency of the Contact Committee from the European Court of Auditors.
